Today at Noon, Tom received “the call”. They have a match for his double lung donor. They nervously rushed to leave town and arrive at the hospital in their short arrival window of 3 hours. Upon arrival they have begun testing and any prep needed at this time.
Hurry up and then wait….pray then wait some more. We are ok with this calm. Blessed for this time to notify family and make plans. Tom just finished his last meal before surgery, due to fasting after 5pm. Surgery is scheduled for 4:00am. So set your alarms and pray at 4:00am, so we can flood the heavens with our prayers.
Trigger warning: Donor info. Lung donor is currently on life support. The family and medical team have decided it is time to pull the plug. They will give the patient/donor two hours to pass away while the recipient (Tom) is on standby. If the potential donor does not pass away in this time then Tom will be sent home and this will be a “Dry Run” as they call it. Assuming that if the patient lives longer than two hours and Tom goes home it may be possible for a call with shorter notice and urgency for transplant for this donor or another.
Prayers for peace and the medical team to do an amazing job. God is good.
