Surgery Journey

This morning at 3:45am Tom was brought down to the surgery center. “The lungs have arrived.” That statement alone means so much has happened to get to this point. It is the beginning of a new journey, a new way of life for many. Tracy braided his beard in hopes that he will not need to be shaved for surgery. Tom has been feeling very anxious going into this day and with little sleep. Medication or his nerves have made him nauseous, he has been given his first doses of anti-rejection medication in preparation for New Lungs. Even just before going into surgery the family is notified that transplant may be cancelled at any time potentially. We keep praying.

They wheeled him away and we get notification that “Surgery has began”. Tracy awaits in the hospital lobby with Tom’s sister Kathy and his daughter Tiffanie. As the early morning hours come we get notice that “Procedure is going as scheduled”. We ask that everyone continue to pray as the surgeons begin this procedure with God’s guidance and healing hands. Peace for the family and for Tom. Peace and comfort to the family who experienced loss today as well.

Fear not, God is with you before, during, and after surgery. Isaiah 41:10 Don’t be afraid, for I am with you! Don’t be frightened, for I am your God! I strengthen you-yes, I help you-yes, I uphold you with my saving right hand.

Thank you all for reading and sharing his story.
